Burlington, Vermont

We made the short trip from Westport, NY, to Burlington, VT Friday morning, arriving at 8 am. I had scheduled a hair appointment here, and Mark needed to have a chiropractic adjustment on his back, so a car was a must. (He had another adjustment today, Monday, and is almost back to normal.)

My hair color/cut at Stephen and Burns could not have been better! The salon is located on the Church Street Marketplace, a pedestrian mall with lots of fun shops. (Hello, lululemon!) I left the salon ready to enjoy the 1/2 mile stroll back to our boat when I looked at the sky and realized speed would be a good idea. I booked it back to the marina, all downhill, and climbed onboard about 2 minutes before this hit:

It was also Jazz Festival week in Burlington, so the downtown was hopping- it's a very hipster downtown. This is also the home of Ben and Jerry's and Bernie Sanders.

We made some wonderful new friends here- Harbor Host Tom Peterson, who introduced us to the Skinny Pancake crepe restaurant; Doug Warren, a friend of friends who warmly welcomed us to Champlain Marina yesterday; and Susan and Rich aboard Hillandra, our sister ship, a 2014 27' Ranger Tug like ours.

Last night we reconnected with Barbara and Jorge on Diadema and had dinner at the Vermont Pub and Brewing Company- delicious Caesar Salad with grilled salmon.

Today we are preparing for our entry into Quebec province tomorrow. Canada does not allow fresh produce to be brought in, so I made beef stew to use up my veggies, egg salad, tuna salad, and Blueberry Oatmeal muffins. We also did laundry, pumped out our holding tank, added fuel, and topped off our fresh water, and picked up some Canadian currency. I think we are as ready as we can be.

Our Internet access will be very limited for the next 6-8 week, so I will blog when I find wifi.
